Emoji Code Breaking

Image
So this week I wanted to do the Emoji code maths, so I asked my mum to print sheet numbers 1 and 2 out. For the first sheet, I didn't struggle as I found the questions easy.  But then I started the second one and I did not look at the takeaway and plus signs.  So when I asked my mum to check it we re-did some of the questions together.  Mum showed me how to work out the takeaways.  I like the additions better.

Lockdown art

Image
So today my internet was a little down because my mum Hayley was doing a lot of work on her computer so my computer was not loading.  I went to my schedule and changed a few things to art the thing I love most about learning. Earlier this year, I went to art class and I got all cool tools and then lockdown started an art class stoped so my art tools have been sitting there for a long time and so I thought why not do some art and I really ended up where ever my hand took me.

Lockdown wine making

Image
Mum, Dad, Georgia and I cut, picked and stomped grapes. We were going to have people over and make it a community thing but then lockdown started and we couldn't have anybody over. So we did it as a family. We stomped the grapes into our barrel to make grape juice. We all had turns at stomping the grapes. Now we are stirring the grape juice every morning and night. Dad is pleading mum to use her wedding veil for a giant sieve so we can pour the juice into our tank without the skin and seeds getting in the wine. The juice stays in the tank for 9 months to turn into wine.

Lockdown hot cross buns

Lockdown Extinctions

Image
At home, I am learning about zoology and that is learning about animals in biology.     Extinctions  Dodo birds                                                                 Dodo is extinct because the Dutch sailors came and killed the bird and ate them all to extinction. The Dodo was easy to catch because the Dodo did not fear humans. The Dodo was a flightless bird with a big round body and a large beak. The Dodo was native to the island Mauritius, east of Madagascar. The Dodo’s closest relative was the Rodrigues solitaire.         Mammoths They are extinct because humans hunted them for their tusks, meat, bones, and skin. Scientists believe that it (the extinction) could be because of climate change but there is a poor argument for it being climate change. Hunting by humans made them more and more extinct. The mammoth had many habitats like northern Asia, parts of Europe and North America during the last ice age. Mammoths have big long tusks that people ki

Lockdown Zoology

for my school, I am doing some zoology and I am learning about the life cycle of Whitebait   Inanga plants a school of eggs in a bush of seaweed.  In late summer and early autumn, the eggs hatch into larvae. Six months pass and the larvae slowly turn into whitebait, which are baby Inanga.  As the whitebait grows over months, they become Inanga. The cycle repeats and the Inanga have their own eggs and then they turn into larvae and it happens all over again.
